Performance &
Nutrition for Injury Rehabilitation
Nutrition & Dietetics
Hi! I’m Helen, an Advanced Sports Dietitian and Eating Disorder Nutrition Therapist based in Melbourne.
For more than 17 years, I’ve been helping people turn the power of nutrition into practical strategies they can use in everyday life.
After graduating from Deakin University in 2008, I specialised in Sports Nutrition and later undertook further training in feeding differences, disordered eating , eating disorders & body image challenges. This has given me a deep understanding of the relationship between high-pressure environments and the impact they can have on eating behaviours, body image, and overall wellbeing.
My experience
I’ve had the privilege of working across a range of elite sporting and performance settings, including:
- Lead Dietitian, Cricket Victoria (2012–2024) — supporting state, pathway, and professional athletes for 12 years
- Contributing to education programs during the inaugural AFLW National Academy
- Supporting athletes during the early seasons of Western United Football Club
- Launching Waverley Gymnastics Centre’s first Performance Nutrition Program in 2023
- Commencing my current role as AFLW Dietitian with the Melbourne Football Club in 2025
- Expanding my contribution to the Australian Sports Dietetic network providing Supervison services in 2026. Contributing to the Sports Dietetic workforce through student mentoring and formalised supervision services to fellow Dietitians – early to seasoned career clinicians.
These high-performance environments have continually shaped my understanding of the unique pressures athletes, adolescents, and families face.
Areas I’m particularly passionate about
I have extensive experience in the complex and nuanced application of nutrition strategy and counselling through:
- Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S)
- Chronic under-fuelling
- Bone stress injuries
- Disordered eating and body image concerns
I work pragmatically and collaboratively, recognising that successful recovery is rarely about perfection. It requires flexibility, compassion, and strategies that can realistically be implemented within the demands of work, school, training, and family life.
A real-life perspective
As a mum of two boys, I understand the challenge of the juggle.
Balancing:
- health
- performance
- wellbeing
- family life
- and long-term sustainability
isn’t always easy. Nutrition should support life, not become another source of pressure.
Working together
As your “Food Coach”, my goal is to be your ally in nutrition.
You can expect:
- A relaxed and non-judgmental space
- Practical, evidence-based guidance
- Support that is tailored to you and your lifestyle
- A focus on realistic and sustainable change
- A neuro-affirming space: honouring collaboration, autonomy and a strength-based approach
Together, we’ll cut through the often overwhelming sea of nutrition information and develop a plan that helps you move confidently towards your health, performance, and wellbeing goals.
With a gentle strengths-based approach….
I practice through a trauma-informed lens focussing on health behaviours and the systems and relationships that surround food, eating and our bodies.
